Good news can feel like it’s in short supply, so we wanted to send you some:
Dave and Sun are publishing a 2nd Edition of Gamestorming!
It’s been more than ten years since the book was first published and because the world of work has been tossed and is still thrashing, it seemed an appropriate time to give new life to this practice.
Gamestorming 2.0 will include chapters like gamestorming in virtual environments, design canvases and how to deploy them, radical teaming, relational attunement, and more. For those of you who prefer to put the book down and get your hands dirty, we’re also designing a brand-new Gamestorming Foundations course as well as a Gamestorming Certification program. And since gamefulness fuels so many cognitive leaps, Dave and Sun have also been developing new focus areas that build on these principles and practices:
Dave is launching the School of the Possible, a learning community focused on exploring creativity and possibility.
Sun is re-opening the Center for Deep Self Design, a regenerative third space that offers interactive experiences for self-authorship, creative courage, and collaborative fluency.
Although James Macanufo has bowed out of the second edition, he has our eternal gratitude (take a bow, James!). To carry the torch, Sun recruited a friend, colleague and long-time Gamestormer, Danyelle de Jong of Idea Illuminations. Danyelle will collaborate as a game curator, game inventor, recipe-writer and illustrator.
We’ve already started our book-writing process, and the project will take about a year. FYI, we plan to include some amazing success stories (success could = facilitation bloopers, too) and we’d love to hear yours, so we’ll be inviting you to intersect with our creative process in a variety of ways. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities.
You can also subscribe to Sun’s learning community and/or Dave’s personal blog.
Until next time,
This is very exciting. I use the techniques and tactics for business development, including capture and proposal management.
